I forgot one time, what if I jumped over each one of you EACH TIME you forgot to post a comment... Miss Rowela, I know for a fact you'll go a week "forgetting" to check my blog...
Anyways, Update on Rob being unemployed:
Yesterday I sent off resumes for two ads I saw in the Springfield Newspaper. One was a computer tech job for a company, and the other was as a paralegal's assistant. Now both of those would just be place holder jobs 'till I better figured out what I wanted to do. And right now I don't know if I'd want to do computers, or if I'd be interested in law - but I've got to start somewhere. Here's the kicker, and its what I want you employed, house/apartment owning people to help me out with. I figure I need about 400 a month for a small apartment. And I've always heard the rule of thumb is that your rent shouldn't exceed one pay check. Well... the way I figure it, that means I have to make about $14 an hour. Does that all sound right to everyone else? This whole job finding thing sucks.
So you want to see some of the random stuff I've found online recently? Is that what you want? Ok, here. I want to know if anyone can tell me if that thing is real, and works. (Trevor, sounds like your department) . And Jen, I realize that this says "teenager" but I haven't ruled out your husband as being involved. Kim, next time lil' Nicky acts up use Uncle Rob's method. And for Melinda, a cute enough to make you vomit picture of a bunny laying on top of a dog.
There, that covers the AWR team. Now what I want in return. I want to hear some summaries of how things are different without me. I want to know what you've heard people say about me now that I'm gone. Remember this website, in the end, is about me.

Small apartment?! Dude, I realize that you want to make enough money to do other things as well but you should understand how undeniably cheap housing is in Springfield. I live in a 2-bedroom palace and the rent is a measley $499.00. (Or at least it was until they decided that I'm 'under-oppcupying' it because I live alone in a two bedroom. Now it's $514.00, but hey at least water is included).
There's another complex nearby with similar rates and different layouts. One of the places you want to avoid is Chatham Hills apartments. That's a shady group of people if ever I saw one. For 140.00 more than I pay now I could have had a smaller apartment and had to deal with their bull. For a quick reference my apartment is about 1000 sq. ft. And there's some more like mine available around the complex (I think the one bedrooms are the same layout as mine, minus one bedroom. Could save you some money).
Anyway, good luck with the job search. Now wish me luck, I've put off a 6 page research paper so long I have one weekend to start and finish it. Joy...

I think that picture of the bunny rabbit and the dog is a special kodak moment. That lets me know dogs and rabbits can get along together as pets. As for that other picture that looks like a giant mechanical spider from a sci fi movie.
Red alert! red alert! update on wlpp staff another temp. employee bites the dust. It looks like our recent temorary staff are dropping out like flies. The good news is that Ms. boss has replaced one of the two with another one (see how long she will last). That might your cue Rob to come back.

$400 a month won't be too hard to find in Springfield. My mother has a 1200 sq ft apartment 2 bedrooms, a HUGE bathroom, utilities included (she only pays for phone) for $525 a month on Toronto Rd (the college area). My house, including the mortgage, insurance, PMI, and taxes is only $650 a month!
Heck, take Scott's extra room! Ha Ha...
I'll keep my eyes open for jobs...try the CMS website. There's a ton of meaningless state jobs you can apply for!

Seconds later, the dog, mild-mannered through the whole photo shoot sprang to action and gobbled the rabbit whole. Rabbits and dogs don't get along. Anyone who tells you differently probably abuses temps in their off time.
Rob, there's a good apt. market here in springfield, don't worry about finding a place. I can keep my eye out for a few if needed.

Thanks for all the offerings of help with the apartment searching. But really I need to find a job first, and I need to know what kind of minimum salary I can take to afford the move. So I think I'm hearing that finding a cheap apt is possible... I'm just trying to figure out how that relates to how much I have to pull in on my pay check. Does the math work out that I need to make at least $14 an hour ($30,000 a year) to afford the move? That's what I'm confused about.
Yeah you could live with me...as long as you promise not to touch any of my stuff, cook all the food and pay half the rent. Some maid work would be nice too. Heh heh heh, and I guess you'd be a 'French' Maid. I'm just too witty.
But seriously, if you wanted to stay here I do have a spare bedroom and it would be nice to save some dough for grad school/what the hell ever I do after college. Your rent would be half and then I'd add on the charge for me being so damned entertaining all the time and it's still a bit cheaper.
It's also cool if you want your own place, I don't really care. But I'd still appreciate the maid work...

The salary per/hour thing is a little tricky. If you worked 40 hours a week, $14 an hour would be more than enough. You can probably get by with making 25k a year, which is roughly about $12 an hour if you work a 40 hour work week. If you work for the state, it's only a 37.5 hour work week because you don't get paid lunches. For that you'd need at least $13 an hour to hit your 25k mark. You could get away with less if your apartment pays utilities. It also depends on if you have a car payment....

Rob-
If you don't move to Springfield, I'm going to. As long as I can continue to commute to my amazing job at AWR. Since I have no idea where Springfield is, I'm going to assume it's doable.
The biggest change since you've been gone is...that there just weren't enough people wishing me a Happy B-Day today (yes...32 years old...frightening). Kimmy definitely did her share though , and for that, I am forever in her debt. (oh, and a certain male co-worker offered birthday spankings, which I politely declined). Sigh.
As far as the glass in the burger issue goes--thanks for insinuating that my hubby is some kind of twisted freak. Hey, you're not that far off.
If you were still at AWR, I couldn't tell you this...but, since you're gone (and anyone who still works there, look away please...) I declined the job offer I got from "outside" & will be staying put at AWR for a while...I think you can put 2 & 2 together.
Good luck finding your niche. But, don't be in too big a rush to grow up.

Aaaaawwwwww.... Robbie's all growed up! Good luck with the job searching, I know you'll find something that you want to do.

I used to make $10 an hour and lived in a $600 townhouse. Of course, I never paid my electric or my phone bill, if that helps. I personally think I've been getting ripped off by living in the St. Louis Metro area. Springfield sounds like the way to go! Let's all pack our bags...
I did have to be the only person entertaining Jen for her birthday, sure missed you. At least you wouldn't have had to brave the cold, and get stuck with a stoned waiter this time. Instead we ordered from Copley's and had to sign our names in blood that we would actually come pick up the order...they've gone ballistic there.
I should've just had some French toast in the age of enlightenment.

Rob,
I think $14 an hour is generous, too. I make a measely $10K a year (if that) with my stipend and am forking out $550 a month on rent. I guess that's what I get for living in the big city. God bless Springfield for cheap housing!

PS - maybe you should become John's paralegal...that'd be awesome!
