This is Ro. I stole Rob for a few days, which is why he has not updated. So I am now taking over his blog. I'm glad to see that no one has complained for his lack of posting. Thanks to everyone for being such a good sport about this. And for those of you who really do have a problem with it, you can eat it.
Over the weekend, Rob, Phil, Kim and I discovered Cranium. The game is loads of fun. I don't have time to explain it, but you can google it if you're REALLY interested. So the topic for the day is childhood games. My favorite game as a child was Mystery Dream Date. It's the game with the talking phone that gives you hints about which eligible bachelor is your boyfriend and where he is going to take you on a date. The first person to figure out who the boyfriend/ location are wins. But only like 2 of the 7 guys were hot, so no one really wanted to win most of the time. That game was awesome. So was that Mall Madness game where you run around a mall and whoever spends the most money wins. This is where I learned my role as a woman in American society... through board games.

Ah Ro, you can at once sound so nice and so vicious. So basically I'm saying that you're a woman. Congrats on that, though you'd make a weird girlfriend for Rob if you weren't.
Formalities aside, I'd like to say that Cranium is awesome. You guys should lose to me some time. I make it fun either way. But I'd say my all time favorite board game is either Risk! or Stratego. They both have their annoyances and strong points.
For one, in Risk! everyone wins their first game. It's really annoying. You could be the Deep Blue of Risk and some 13 year old girl could beat you...but only the first time. But Stratego takes a lot of set up. In any case, both have crafted me into a stern but efficient imaginary general.
I also enjoy Buzz Words, in my life I've never lost a game, and I think I've only missed like 4 or 5 questions, most on technicalities.
Before I bring this comment to a close I'd like to throw down the gauntlet, BuzzWords/Risk/Stratego/Crainum, anytime, anywhere. I will DESTROY you!!

P.S. And good post Ro, nice to see a fresh poster. And by that I mean you shower. People could learn from that (Rob, I'm looking in your direction...)
I don't know if you are Rob had read the Smallville website a few weeks ago. They are suppose to be making the movie Flash and Lana's boyfriend Jason was chosen for the part.
Mr. Rob if your not working yet you can come back to wlpp we back office could use you right about now to crank in those 1,000 enrollments you can do within eight hours. Looks like we got a total close to 8,000 pieces of mail just in two days. So, you know everyone has to be a team player getting these enrollments done. (Once again I won't be the only one around here with a fat pocket of money. (Thank goodness for overtime).

woah... first time I ever had to comment on my own blog. I had nothing to do with that posting at all. And actually I had a post for Monday all figured out, however Ro was a disappointing distraction and I temporarily failed you. But Monday's Post will come Tomorrow, which means Tuesdays post will be Thursday and so forth... This has really screwed things up. Oh well about Ro's post.
The board games I have on my shelf right now are Checkers/Chess, Monopoly, Risk, Stratego, Axis & Allies, and now... Cranium. As a kid I played a lot of Monopoly, Checkers and Stratego... cause they were all at my grandma's house (Uncle's old games) and at the time I don't think I played any of them right.
I think that my most defining games might have been Uno. Timeless if you ask me. Even in college, you can add all sortsa awesome rules, Stacking Draw Two's, accumulating Skips, etc. And if that doesn't count 'cause its a card game, then checkers. Why? 'cause I'm a manipulative bastard.
I can attribute the person I am today to the board games I played in my formative years. Thanks for putting this out there.
Risk, I'm a recent addict, and I'll always win.

Cranium is most definitely rad. I rule at celebrity impressions. One time, I was playing inside, but a group of people outside could watch through a glass door. I drew James Brown - not only did my team guess it, but the people outside, who couldn't even hear me, guessed it. THROUGH THE DOOR! Man, I'm awesome.
Rivers, Roads and Rails was a great game, but you're probably right, J. Definitely a Ryder family thing. I'm thinking Mom and Dad made the entire thing just for our amusement.
But for me, there will always be one ridiculous game that holds a special place in my heart.

My parents never let me win as a kid. Not once. And sometimes, my Dad would yell, "Yeah, that's right. YOU SUCK!"
What I learned from board games as a child is that my parents are bastards and must be destroyed.

My board games I loved as a child include monopoly, candy land, shoots and ladders, uno (even if it's not a board game), and coodies (also not a board game)...these games taught me the simple fact that reality is relative. There REALLY is a place called candy land, there REALLY are little coodie bugs, and a slide and a ladder can take you ANYWHERE you want to go!

Ah childhood memories... I have always been an avid board game lover..from the wee days of Hi Ho Cherry-O, Candy Land and Hungry Hungry Hippos to Sorry, Connect Four and Kerplunk.
I also had the mystery date game and who could forget Operation.
As of now I have discovered the wonderful world of Cranium! Their games are awesome! Hoopla and Apples to Apples are a must for any game lover!
